Weather Damage Repair

You have heard the old adage that the roof doesn't leak if it isn't raining, well, summer has arrived and if you haven't noticed damage to the roof of your house up to this point the rain that comes with summer may just be the thing to point out any problems.photo of a roof damaged by inclement weather

Roof leaks will almost certainly become evident in the next few weeks, but the stronger rain which sometimes happens at this time of the year may highlight the need for other types of repair on your roof. Gutters may be rusted or blocked and need attention and so too may the fascia boards along your roof. Fascia boards in good repair will keep the wind driven rain out from under the roof of your house and protect the beams and electrical wiring which runs there.

Johannesburg has been experiencing unseasonal rain preceded by a number of storms which have caused much damage to buildings.

When the water is not lead away effectively, especially during a heavy downpour the water can find its way under the roof and cause damage to the ceiling. Ceilings which are in need of repair and remain unattended may collapse and cause even more damage to the building.

Rainfall that isn't managed properly can also collect in puddles at the base of the house causing the walls to absorb water leaving you with damp patches. Repairs to the walls both inside and out will require re-plastering and repainting.

Hail on the other hand is something that one cannot really channel away to minimise damage and often roof tiles and windows are left in need of repair. Having the window pane repaired is best left to an individual or team that are experienced replacing windows, cutting panes to the correct size and placing them without and damage to the glass or harm to themselves.
